Paralegal/Legal Assistant


The Paralegal/legal assistant  provides litigation support for multiple attorneys, and performs paralegal tasks, including, but not limited to preparing correspondence, legal pleadings, formatting and production of briefs, issue subpoenas, e-filing in state and federal court, dictation, interact with clients, draft responses to discovery, receive, organize and bates number discovery documents, interview potential clients, schedule depositions and other meetings, maintains filing systems and communicates in person, by telephone, fax, mail or email with internal and external contacts.   Prior experience in litigation or employment discrimination a plus.

Requirements:

 

-Excellent writing and oral communication skills. -Skilled in meeting and dealing with people in a courteous and tactful manner. -Knowledge of legal terminology to understand complex legal terms and phrases, knowledge of legal formats and knowledge of legal procedures in order to effectively communicate with legal staff, and to determine what information is to be entered into the data base. -Knowledge of litigation processes and court proceedings to recognize case status and to analyze case files and other source documents to properly docket and to identify errors. -At least two to four years of litigation experience preferred. -Skilled in operating business telephone and dictation equipment. -Proficient with WordPerfect and Microsoft Office applications [i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other litigation software). -Ability to transcribe dictation. -Some walking, standing, bending and carrying of small office items.
