UNPAID Judicial Law Clerk position available for Spring/Summer 2017.
Domestic Relations Court, Courtroom 230, is seeking law clerk(s) (UNPAID POSITIONS) beginning in late spring through end of summer 2017.
Interns with the Domestic Relations Court will see litigation in action, meet members of the local bar and judiciary, gain an insider’s perspective on the judicial process, learn more about responsibilities and opportunities in the legal profession, improve general office skills, add a valuable experience to their resumes, and make a positive contribution to the community.
APPLICANTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO PURSUE ACADEMIC CREDIT THROUGH THEIR INSTITUTIONS OF STUDY AS COMPENSATION FOR THIS UNPAID POSITION
A law clerk would assist court staff with clerical tasks, respond to case-related inquiries from attorneys and litigants (in-person, by phone or email), sit-in on court dockets to take notes, communicate with counsel, conduct research of the law, write summaries on case supporting documents and evidence, work with Microsoft Word, and any and all other appropriate duties assigned.
The following requirements are necessary for this internship:
- Interest in Family Law (Divorce, child custody, child support, etc).
- Completion of one year of law school.
- Good research Skills
- Good writing Skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Skilled in working with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work at least 20 hours per week
