Deputy Sheriff

The Shelby County (AL) Law Enforcement Personnel Board will hold a written Deputy exam 9 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 to fill current and/or future vacancies for the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office. Requirements: Must be a U. S. citizen with a high school diploma or G.E.D.; minimum age is 20 to test, 21 to be hired; prior to hiring, must also pass background check, fitness test, interviews, polygraph, personality inventory, physical exam, and drug screen. To register, you may pick up an application, exam information notice, fitness test requirements, and check list at the SCLEPB office, Room 102 in the Frank C. “Butch” Ellis, Jr. Community Services Building behind the courthouse in Columbiana, AL or print from the Sheriff’s Office’s website: under Career Opportunities. Please bring or send via UPS or FedEx to the SCLEPB office, or mail to SCLEPB, P. O. Box 1006, Columbiana, AL 35051, the following: completed application (KEEP A COPY!), your updated résumé, copy of high school diploma OR high school transcript with graduation date OR G.E.D., copies of any pertinent credentials/awards/certificates/letters of recommendation and/or commendation, and notarized Applicant Statement and Authorization to Release Information form (page 18 of the application, signed in front of a notary – required for background check). Paperwork must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2017. Only pre-registered applicants showing valid driver licenses admitted. This exam is held quarterly; you may take it once per year, in the same quarter or a later quarter since last taking it. Educational and fitness incentives granted to qualified employees. EOE.
